Thank you to all candidates who have applied for the firefighter job opportunity. We have completed the written exam and oral board interviews and the eligible list was certified on 11-19-2025. The city’s Human Resources Department sent out notices to all candidates who completed the oral board interviews to let them know whether they have moved onto the eligible list. Fire Chief interviews are targeted to occur in February 2026. Candidates invited to the Fire Chief’s interviews will be determined by their ranking on the eligible list. Invitations to these interviews will go out in the next couple months.

The Santa Clara Fire Department enhances the quality of life for the people we serve by providing caring, community-oriented service to protect life, property, and the environment.

The Santa Clara Fire Department was first established in 1854 with Columbia Hose Company, a volunteer fire company. Today the Santa Clara Fire Department is available for emergency response 24 hours a day with ten fire stations and one training center. The Fire Department responds to over 10,000 calls for service annually.

Located 45 miles southeast of San Francisco, the city of Santa Clara was founded in 1777.
