Written Exam:

The written exam is a 100-question multiple choice test generated by CPS HR and is comprised of the following six sections:

  • Teamwork, Community Living and Interpersonal Relations (35)

  • Analytical Ability (20)

  • Reading Comprehension (15)

  • Written Comprehension (10)

  • Mathematical Ability (10)

  • Mechanical Reasoning (10)

The time allowance to take the exam is two (2) hours.

There are several firefighter candidate exam preparation guides out there for purchase. The SCFD does not recommend any one in particular, but you can find what is available by conducting a web search.
