The Santa Clara Fire Department enhances the quality of life for the people we serve by providing caring, community-oriented service to protect life, property, and the environment.
The Santa Clara Fire Department was first established in 1854 with Columbia Hose Company, a volunteer fire company. Today the Santa Clara Fire Department is available for emergency response 24 hours a day with ten fire stations and one training center. The Fire Department responds to over 9,000 calls for service annually.
Located 45 miles southeast of San Francisco, the city of Santa Clara was founded in 1777. The city currently covers 19.3 square miles and sits in the heart of what is known worldwide as Silicon Valley. The city is the site of the eighth of 21 California missions, Mission Santa Clara, and was named after the mission. The Mission and Mission Gardens are located on the grounds of Santa Clara University, the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of California. Click here to learn more about Santa Clara.
